Student Scholarships
The Washington State Grape Society is proud to offer one scholarship to a deserving graduate student and one scholarship to a deserving undergraduate student, who are engaged in a field of study relating to the growing and processing of grapes.

Undergraduate or Professional Certificate Students: A $1,500 scholarship is available to an undergraduate student (Associate's or Bachelor's degree) or Professional Certificate Student who is engaged in a field of study relating to the growing of grapes. This scholarship is open to students enrolled in any Washington State accredited institute of higher learning, and also includes students enrolled in programs at Treasure Valley (Idaho) or Blue Mountain (Oregon) Community Colleges. Professional Certificate Programs include those at Washington State University (Viticulture Certificate), Yakima Valley College (Vineyard Technology Certificate), and the Walla Walla Community College (Viticulture Science Certificate).
Graduate Students: A $1,000 scholarship is available to a deserving graduate student (earning a Master's or Doctorate degree) who is engaged in a field of study relating to the growing and processing of grapes. This scholarship is open to graduate students enrolled in any Washington State accredited institute of higher learning.

Application Guidelines
The Scholarship Committee solicits applications from students who are or will be making a direct contribution to the grape growing (viticulture) industry of the State of Washington. The winner will be recognized at the November annual meeting of the Washington State Grape Society.
Application must include:
- LETTER OF APPLICATION: This letter addressed to the Scholarship Committee, is the most important item in the image you wish to present. It should include why you want an education and the academic area in which you plan to study. Briefly outline your area of interest and indicate how the results can contribute to the Washington grape industry, including a statement of your perception of your long-term contributions to the industry.
- PERSONAL INFORMATION SHEET: Its purpose is to help the Scholarship Committee learn about you as a student and as a member of your community. It also gives a picture of your future plans. Be very careful completing this form. Provide the most accurate information you have available. The committee relies heavily on the information contained in this form. - TRANSCRIPTS: Please request transcripts of your academic record from all high school (excluding those in graduate school), colleges/universities attended to be sent to: Washington State Grape Society, 6601 W. Deschutes Ave. Suite C-2, Kennewick, WA 99336. “Official” transcripts will be accepted, but not required. A photo copy of transcripts is permitted.
- THREE LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Include one from the applicant’s academic adviser, the remaining letters should be requested from people who are well acquainted with you as a student and as a person.
All application materials must be combined into a single file and either mailed or emailed to the Washington State Grape Society, at the contact information below. Note, if emailing the application, you can have your letter of recommendation writers send their recommendation directly to the email provided below. Make sure they include your name and "WSGS Scholarship Letter" in the subject line.
